Two Months

Blake recently had his 2-month birthday and we're starting to see his little personality shine through more and more each day. He's smiling and cooing, and he loves checking himself out in the mirror attached to his play mat. We think he's pretty handsome, too. Most people say that he's a spitting image of his dad, especially when compared to Mark's baby pictures.

Little man had his 2-month Well Baby checkup this week and he's on the small side weight wise (11 lbs., 5 oz., 18th percentile), but he's long (24.5 in. long, 94th percentile). His head measures 39.5 in., which puts him in the 52nd percentile, about average they say. So he's long and lean, basically. We'll see if we can pack some more meat on his bones between now and his next doctor's visit in October!

We recently returned from a trip to Washington state to visit family and friends, and Mark also took care of some business meetings in Seattle. Everyone enjoyed meeting Blake and playing with Kenley. Here are a few pictures from our trip...

We spent most of our time with Mark's family in the Arlington/Marysville area.

One morning we got up super early to catch a ferry from Anacortes to Orcas Island. We left the house just after 5 a.m. for the hour-long drive from Marysville to Anacortes to get to the ferry dock an hour early for the 7:20 a.m. sailing. It was a long day, but it was a fun adventure with the family.

We took another day trip to downtown Seattle with Mark's sister Amy, her husband Chris and their son Cameron. We walked through Pike Place Market on our way to the Seattle Aquarium and had lunch at The Crab Pot in the historic waterfront area of Seattle. It was a fun day!

After about a week up north, we drove south to Auburn to stay with our good friends, Matthew and Lisa Jones, and their daughter Ashlynn. We stayed very busy with a visit to the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma and a night out to a Seattle Mariners game, among other things. Lisa and I also visited my friend Roxane, who lives in a beautiful historic home in old Tacoma––we had a nice chat over coffee in Roxane's beautiful patio garden. I was also able to catch up with some old friends one morning at Poverty Bay Coffeehouse in Federal Way, which was a very special treat.

We had an excellent trip! It's always hard to say goodbye, but it's nice that we're only a 3-hour plane ride away.

Next up, the kids and I will be traveling with my mom to Pennsylvania to visit my extended family. Mark will stay home and hold down the fort while we're away. My next post will include a recap of that trip. For being only two months old, Blake sure is racking up those air miles! ;-)
